While searching for a home, you'll hear the terms modular and manufactured. Let us begin with a simple definition of each.
Modular Homes

• Built in modules at a factory.

• Conforms to the state, local or regional codes where the home is to be located.

• Modules are transported to the home site by trucks from the factory.

• Sections of the home are lifted off the transporter frames by a crane and placed onto the home foundation on the site.

• Modular homes are often less expensive per square foot than a site built home.

Manufactured Homes

•Also called mobile homes.

• Built entirely in the factory under a federal code (HUD).

• Built on a non-removable steel framing system.

• Sections are transported to the home site by trucks from the factory.

• Less expensive than site built or modular homes
